This year the 4th of July was a little different than normal since it was on a Sunday. On Saturday the 3rd my brother Denny and his wife hosted a huge gathering and it was a lot of fun. They had a dunk tank, and HUGE water slide going down a hill in their yard, face painting, and tons of good food. TJ loved the slip-n-slide and spent over an hour going down it time after time. Matt went down it quite a few times, and he took Cooper down it once but he didn't really care for it at all. Below is a family picture of us at the end of the party, which is why Cooper's face is so dirty, although I guess you can't really see that too much.

On Sunday the 4th, Matt ate sweets again for the first time in 3 months. Back in April, the day before Easter, Matt decided that he was going to go without sweets for 3 months, and he said that the 4th of July was when he was going to eat them again. I couldn't find my camera that day so I didn't get any actual pictures, although I did get it recorded on video camera, but he ate Peanut M&M's for his first treat, and surprisingly, he said that it wasn't as good as he thought it would be. Back when I was 15-16 I went a year without chocolate, and when I ate it again, it really wasn't as good as I remembered it, so I guess I wasn't all that surprised when Matt said the same thing, although peanut M&M's are his FAVORITE treat of all time.
On Monday morning (July 5th) we got the boys up really early and took them to Provo to watch the hot air balloons. We took our friend Matt and his two boys with us and we had a great time. I still couldn't find my camera, but luckily Matt had brought his, so he let us take pictures throughout the morning with his. It won't let me move the pictures so they are a little out of order, but you get the idea. Below is a picture after all the balloons had taken off.

There was a fire truck there just in case anything went wrong with the balloons, and on our way back to our van we walked over and were showing the boys. The firemen didn't really have anything to do, so they let the boys get up on the truck and even let those who wanted to try and drive it. Overall it was a wonderful morning.

Here is Garrett, Preston, TJ and Cooper in front of some of the balloons.

A little family shot in front of the balloons. I hope the boys remember this, at least TJ.
