Adieu, A Jew?

A couple weeks ago we were having Family Home Evening and I couldn't decide what picture we should have for the lesson, so I let TJ just reach in and pick one. Well the picture he chose was of Esther in the Old Testament. He wasn't familiar with this story yet, so I had to start pretty basic. I said "This is Esther and she was a Jew". Without missing a beat, TJ pipped up "Adieu, Adieu, to You and You and You". For those of you familiar with the Sound of Music, you should recognize that line from the "So long, Farewell" song, or as TJ calls it "The Party Song". TJ LOVES "The Sound of Music" and will listen to that song on repeat as he is going to bed almost every night. To a 3 year old, I guess "A Jew" and "Adieu" sound pretty much the same. :-) So I continued to tell him the story of Esther and I said that she was married to the King, and he said "The King on Cars?". It was a really funny night to see the scriptures through the eyes of a 3 year old. I guess he was just using his referrence points, huh?

He's so funny these days (and sometimes so frustrating too). The other day he had taken off one of his socks, and it's FREEZING here recently so I asked him to put his sock back on. He said in a very cordial tone "No Mom, my toes are warm, but thanks for asking". I just started laughing and I don't think his sock was ever put back on the rest of the day. I swear that child is a werewolf (for those of you who have read Twilight). First thing in the morning before I turn our heat up it's like 65 degrees in here and he's running around in his pull-up and fights me when I ask him to put clothes on.

I love it! When Brandon was about 3 years old, he also loved Sound of Music and would watch the "party song" over and over and over.... He also loved the Play "High on a Hill was a lonely Goat herd...etc..."
TJ is such a hoot! We'll miss him lots when you move west.
